Get a Parent Ph.D, the Most Fun and Useful Advanced Degree Possible

Sausalito, CA (PRWEB) October 20, 2014

For parents interested in the latest childhood development research and how it can help set up their child to become a more creative thinker, the Bay Area Discovery Museum has developed a Parent Ph.D program. Through parent education playgroups and workshops, parents can be an advanced degree in parenting. Learning has never been this fun or useful!

The Museum’s research division, The Center for Childhood Creativity, works with academic leaders at Berkeley, Stanford and other top institutions – sharing their insights in ways that are easy to understand and incorporate into your life. Parent Education Playgroups are for children with their parent (or caregivers). Parent Workshops are for grown-ups only. Invite a friend and enjoy learning together.

The first workshop series, Stop Disciplining and Start Connecting, begins Wednesday, October 22. The second series, Celebrate Little Failures: Parent Messaging that Promotes Positive Learning and Creativity, begins November 15. The first playgroup series, Building Creative Thinking in Your Toddler, begins November 7.

“Parents and caregivers will receive research-backed strategies, tips and tools to help their children build important skills such as creativity, communication, collaboration and emotional regulation,” said Elizabeth Rood, director of education for the Museum and director of the Center. “These hands-on, interactive experiences make learning fun for adults and children.”

About Bay Area Discovery Museum

Creative thinking begins early in every child’s life. It enables original thought and the ability to see solutions where others don’t. It unlocks possibilities and fosters innovation. It provides the fundamental building blocks for success in school and beyond.

The Bay Area Discovery Museum is designed to ignite creative thinking in children. The 7.5 acres of natural beauty inspires families to engage in a world of possibilities. Framed by the majestic backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge, the museum is a space for imaginations to run wild. Every curated detail of our exhibits brings creative thinking to life for all stages of childhood. Navigate winding tunnels to develop physical and intellectual risk-taking skills. Feel the rush of cold-water tide pools that surprise and awaken curiosity. Imagine new worlds by transforming into a spider, a ship captain, or a bridge builder. At every turn is a new opportunity to challenge the boundaries of creativity.

Now we are taking these experiences beyond our physical location. We launched the Center for Childhood Creativity in 2011 to pioneer new research, thought-leadership, and teacher training programs that advance creative thinking in all children—extending our impact beyond the Museum.

Our mission: To ignite and advance creative thinking for all children.
