Gilberto Salazar Escoboza and Videxport Sponsor Scholarships

Gilberto Salazar Escoboza has sponsored scholarships for ten middle school and high school students, each of whom will receive 1,000 pesos per month through the Bancomer BBVA Foundation program Por los que se quedan – For those who stay, which assists and encourages dedicated students to stay in school . On Jan. 9, 2015, Sonoran Governor Guillermo Padrés Elias presented 543 new scholarships from the BBVA to under-privileged students, 294 of which were to middle school students through the Por los que se quedan program. Salazar is an active member of the Bancomer Board of Directors and supports its programs to assist underprivileged students committed to achieving a basic and higher education.



In addition to Gilberto Salazar Escoboza’s contributions to BBVA programs, he offers a number of scholarships to qualifying children of Videxport field workers. The children selected for the scholarships must be continuously enrolled in school and maintain an acceptable grade point average (at least an 8.5 in the 10-point system). While school funds are provided by the Mexican government, these scholarships are paid directly to the students and parents for use in other educational and extracurricular needs, such as the purchase of school supplies and study aids.



Although education is a prime community concern, Gilberto Salazar Escoboza and Videxport extend social awareness and community involvement in numerous areas to encourage life and family betterment. A few examples of Salazar and Videxport’s contributions in social awareness include:



Awards for Excellence 2014 – Gilberto Salazar Escoboza awarded six televisions, six cell phones, and 28 various household appliances to employees in recognition for their exceptional work and outstanding performance during Videxport’s winter watermelon packaging season.



Winter Blanket Donation Campaign – Videxport and Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés delivered more than 1500 winter blankets to families in Hermosillo Coast, Guaymas-Empalme Sonora and Carbó Sonora. These blankets were furnished by Videxport and Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés, as well as fromseveral generous donations from its principal suppliers.



Kids’ Christmas Party – The Christmas party, called Posadas in Mexico, is held annually at Videxport for the children of the company workers. Videxport supplies a clown, music, and games for the children, as well as food, drink, and cake for them and the parents. In addition, each child receives a toy and candy boot as a Christmas gift. Last year, 230 joined in Christmas celebration!



Empalme Police Department Toy Donation – Videxport and Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés received a request for toy donations in Empalme, Sonora, the administration to whom their fields in Guaymas belong. In 2013, toys were donated to children living in the nearest town. Last year, in 2014, toys were delivered to the children of Empalme Police Department personnel.
