Color Me Rad 5K, SELF Team Up for The SELF Edition

Color Me Rad has joined forces with SELF Magazine and SELF.com for a series of unforgettable 5Ks that will debut on March 21, 2015 at California’s Great America in San Jose. Not only will runners enjoy the “Bigger, Badder, Radder” Tour, which includes double the color, but they’ll also be part of The SELF Edition.

At each section of Color Me Rad 5K, the SELF Edition will add a new explosion of SELF-approved colors to the participants’ palette. At the finish line, runners will take part in SELF’s Finish Festival, featuring unique experiences and swag from SELF, as well as event partners including Silk.

Runners arrive in a sparkling white t-shirt and leave a tie-dyed masterpiece. Since 2012, Color Me Rad has turned more than 1.5 million runners into color revelers. Inspired by the Holi Festival of India, a group of friends decided to bring some excitement to the sport of running through color, music, and a total disregard for the mundane. “We are all about encouraging the fun side of fitness,” said race director Scott Crandall. “This should be your most memorable workout of the year.”

Color Me Rad is a for-profit event that gives a portion of the proceeds of each race to a local charity. A portion of the proceeds of this event will benefit the Pacific Autism Center for Education. “The only thing better than getting rad is giving back,” Crandall said.

“Color Me Rad perfectly aligns with the mission of SELF,” said SELF publisher Mary Murcko. “The races are social, energizing, and unquestionably a great time – all things the SELF woman wants from her workouts. She wants new ways to love getting sweaty and that’s exactly what Color Me Rad races do – they make fitness fun!”

In 2015, Color Me Rad™ has three locations scheduled for The SELF Edition: San Jose, Knoxville, and Washington, D.C.
